Brian Frederick Dudley Those of you who know Brian knew he lived life to the full. He was the most giving person I’ve ever known. His friends and family were the most important thing to him. Only ever having to pick up the phone and he'd be there for you. Brian Frederick Dudley was born on 2nd June 1938 in London. He was the Second child of Bill and Olive. They started family life in London, and later moved to Herne Bay in Kent, where he spent most of his family life before moving to Spain where he spent ten wonderful years. Brian has two children, Helen and Stephen by his first wife Sheila. Later marrying a further two times to Dorothy and Mary. Brian has five grandchildren Zara, Alison, Max, Megan and Mikey all of whom he loved dearly. Brian went to Herne Bay secondary school and graduated from the school of life; Following a short spell in the merchant navy Brian was called up for National service where he joined the royal engineers stationed in Malaya and received the "Pingat Jasa Malaysia medal". Following discharge from national service he then went to work for the Ford motor company and had various other jobs, Milkman, lorry driver before honing skills gained in Malaysia as an electrician to establish his own electrical contractors company with his son Stephen in the UK. Freemasonry was a incredibly important part of Brian's life; having made many friends over a masonic career spanning some forty years and remained very active in Freemasonry until his last days. His masonic career Started in Herne Bay Ethelbert lodge and later joining the Cinque Lodge in Sandwich. Following Brian's move to Spain he was made an honorary member of the Ethelbert Lodge in Herne Bay and is currently a member of four lodges here in Spain. Throughout this time Brian was known for his hard work in the administration and dedication to the Masonic cause. I asked family and friends to tell me what they remember most about Brian. There are so many good memories. Going to the pub with grandad in his slippers. Playing cricket in Chestfield. His "Mega Spanish chicken" the Surprise swimming pool for grandchildren one summer. Jan and Rich's honeymoon and anniversary visits where we where always made to feel welcome and part of Brian's family. One that I remember in particular relates to Brian's Grand Prix approach to driving!! Those of you who know him know well are aware he passed his driving test at the Stirling Moss school of Driving. On this particular day Brian offered to drive his granddaughter Megan and a friend to to maths class. Following the running of two red lights traversing a round about the wrong way, one stop for refuelling, a stop for a change of tyres, Megan arrived safe and in pole position for her lesson and culminated in a comment from her very nervous friend "Your granddad is a good driver, are we are getting the bus home?" The number One bus home from Brighton that day was the best bus Journey home ever. Despite grandad's driving, Megan achieved a grade grade B in her GCSE. There so many other things that can be said about Brian but in summary Brian Dudley was a remarkable man, who was devoted to his loved ones, friends and family who will be missed terribly by all.
